Passed peacefully away at the James Paton Memorial Health Centre, Gander on Thursday, June 11th, 2015, Edward Derek Cooper, age 69. Predeceased by his father, Edward Cooper. Left to mourn with loving memories are his wife Kathleen, son Paul (Shirley), daughter Tammy (Michael) and three grandsons Riley, Christian and Ryner. Mother Lillian Blanche Cooper, Sisters Lilian Bursey (John), Yvonne Lush (Fraser), Gail Miles (Terry), brother David Cooper (Coreen), sister-in-laws Judy Hiltz (Rick), Mary Keenan (Wayne), brother-in-law John Doyle and a large circle of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and close friends. Derek has been a long standing member of the Gander Community, moving here at the age of 7 months. Over the years he has been a member of the Gander and Area Chamber of Commerce and has held a variety of positions. He volunteered with such organizations as the Gander Boys and Girls Club and The Heritage Foundation of Terra Nova National Park. He has been an integral part of the local business community and has always had passion for his family and work and he loved the game of golf - he will be greatly missed. Resting at Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander on Saturday, June 13th from 7-9 pm and Sunday, June 14th from 2-4 P.M. and 7-9 P.M. Funeral service will take place on Monday, June 15, 2015 at 2 P.M. from St. Martin's Anglican Cathederal. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. Flowers greatfully accepted or donations for the Healing Garden at JPMHC or Gas Cards - to be used for patients traveling to the Cancer Clinic (can be left with Stacey's Funeral Home).
