It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anne Marie (Chiasson) Singler, 67, of Sydney. Surrounded by her loving family, she passed away Thursday, June 11, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Sydney, N.S., on Sept. 28, 1947, Anne Marie was the daughter and only child of the late Joseph and Evelyn (MacIntyre) Chiasson.
Anne Marie was the definition of a hard worker; she was on the original board of directors for the Sydney Day Care as secretary treasurer, a co-chair of the Women in Business Organization, a secretary to the Society for Improvement Accessible Transportation. She received a lifetime achievement award for her 43 years of employment at Board of Trade/Chamber of Commerce/Cape Breton Builders Exchange.
Anne Marie’s dedication to her work was constant and tireless but her dedication to her family and friends was simply inspiring.
Anne Marie is survived by the love of her life, Benjamin Singler; her three loving and devoted children, sons, Benny (Shannon), Billy (Stephanie) and daughter, Candi. Her treasured grandchildren, Ryan, Holly and Madison, also survive her.
Anne Marie loved to socialize and to her it meant a great deal to be a part of the community. Among many things she enjoyed doing, she had a real passion for baking and she sure was good at it, she also had a huge passion for animals, cats in particular. She always had a strong desire to travel especially to visit her family in Biloxi, Miss.
Anne Marie was an impressively intelligent woman and her love knew no boundaries. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure and for now we realize how lucky we are to have had someone that makes saying goodbye so hard.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, June 17 at 11 a.m., in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the SPCA, or the palliative care unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
