Douglas McKinney passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, following a brief illness, on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at his home in Queenstown, NB.
Douglas was known to be a man that loved his home and family. He was the proud owner of McKinney’s General Store and Electrohome T.V. Sales and Repairs for 40 years. He was a lifelong member of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, where he held offices of Warden and Vestry. Doug was a 60 year member of the Loyal Orange Lodge #112. He was also a member of Royal Black Chapter and a long-time volunteer with the Good Samaritan Food Bank in Jemseg.
Survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Ruth (Perrin); four children, Paul (Barb), Pam (Rob) Hoben, Sandra (Jim) Stockford and Donald (Catherine); ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and four nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, James and Jennie (Dale) McKinney; brothers, G. Ken (Edrey) and J. Harold (Dorothy) and his niece, Lynn McKinney.
Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 16th, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in Queenstown, NB, on Wednesday, June 17th, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Sandra Hounsell-Drover officiating. Interment will take place in the St. Stephen’s Anglican Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes can be made to the Queenstown Orange Hall (maintenance) or to St. Stephen’s Anglican Church Maintenance Fund.
