Sheron (Fesiuk) Gardiner

Passed in: Gardiner Mines
Passed on: June 17th, 2015

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother on June 17, 2015 in Sydney, N.S.
Sheron grew up in Sault St. Marie as the daughter of Evan John and Alexandria (Wilchynski) Fesiuk.
She worked at NCR in Mississauga, then the Heavy Water Plant in Glace Bay. From there she took time to raise her children. In more recent years she enjoyed working at Spiegel where she met several good friends.
Sheron and Donald enjoyed travelling that took them on many adventures together. She devoted many years volunteering for the Canadian Cancer Society, serving as the secretary and president of the New Waterford chapter.
Sheron was quite a good bowler and enjoyed almost 30 years on teams out of Knox Lanes. She was an active and involved member of the Gardiner Mines Pensioner's Club. When all of those activities weren't keeping her occupied she was happy to be shopping for bargains.
Sheron is survived by her loving husband and cribbage partner of 46 years Donald; daughter Nicole (Derek) Stinson of Windsor, Ont.; son Evan (Laurie) Gardiner of Gardiner Mines; the light of her life, her grandchildren, Ayslin and Delaney Stinson and Jaxson and Cooper Gardiner and her grand-furbaby Geno.
Sheron is also survived by brothers, Mel (Sharron), Gerry (Pauline) and Richard (Fern), and best friend Hughena Flint. She will be dearly missed by many extended family and friends.
Besides her parents, Sheron was predeceased by her sister Deana.
We the family, would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Cape Breton Cancer Centre and the An Cala unit for their outstanding care and compassion. Also Shoshanna Fraser for capturing two summers of family memories.
At Sheron's request, cremation has taken place. Please join us to celebrate Mom's life at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford Friday, June 19 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held Saturday, June 20 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s cemetery, River Ryan. Luncheon details will be announced following the funeral mass.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre Patient Care fund or Hospice/Palliative Pallative Care Society of Cape Breton.
