Mae Kelly, age 81, of Port Morien passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay in 1933, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Mildred (MacDonald) MacDonald.
Mae was a member of the Glace Bay Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing and downhill skiing. Mae had a great sense of humour.
She is survived by one daughter, Heather-Lynn Ozon (Andre), Edwardsville; two sons, Brenton, Glace Bay, David (Joanne), Gander, N.L.; two brothers, Archibald John ‘A.J.’ (Geraldine), Boston, Angus, Port Morien; five grandchildren, Vanessa, Erin, Vikki, Joseph, Andrew, one great-grandchild, Benjamin and one niece, Jennifer MacDonald.
Mae was predeceased by her husband, Robert Kelly and two sisters-in-law, Edna and Florence.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral service officiated by Richard Volkes is Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Interment will be held at a later date.
