GRAHAM, DR. MICHAEL ROSS
(1937-2015)
MAIN RIVER, NB - It is with sadness the family of Dr. Michael Ross Graham announce his passing at his home at Sand Point in Main River on Monday, June 29, 2015. Born in Main River on October 16, 1937.
He attended school in Main River, a one room school and then at Moncton High School. Later he graduated from Mount Allison University as his Class President with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
He then went on to graduate from Dalhousie University in Halifax with his degree in Medicine. He served in the Canadian Navy for several years and obtained the rank of Lieutenant. He started his practice in Kent County in the mid 1960's which spanned over five decades which became one of the largest general practices in the province. He was a dedicated physician who still made house calls to the elderly up until his retirement.
He was the son of the late Harrison Graham and Nellie Ross and late stepmother Nellie Wilson.
He is survived by two brothers, William (Iain) of Vancouver and Alan (Connie) of Rexton, eight nieces and nephews and twelve great-nieces and nephews which brought him much joy over the years.
To Denise Richard, a lifelong friend and part of the family - a special thanks. To his lifelong friend Dick Irlam - you were also part of his great memories. He was a world traveler and loved reading world history and the rise and fall of empires. He also wrote and published several books of poetry.
At his request there will be no funeral or memorial service of any kind. His wish was to have his ashes scattered at sea, which will be at the farewell buoy in the Richibucto harbour by the family at a later date.
The family wish to thank his special friend Rene and his son and his care givers Nancy and (Gloria) Pinkie who brought to him much comfort and happiness. His passing is the second loss the small community of Main River has seen in the past two months, he and Irene will both be greatly missed.
Also special thanks to the staff at Extra Mural, to his long time friends, Dr. McCleave and Dr. Lightfoot for their kindness and understanding. For those who wish to remember him in some way a donation to the charity or cause of your choice would be appreciated.
A special thanks to all his friends and patients for bringing him much happiness and satisfaction over the years as he practiced his love of medicine. Just remembering his sense of humor and ability to express his mind was all he would have wanted - take time to tell a story about Dr. Mike.
Arrangements are in care of Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).
