Mrs. Mildred Brattley passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2015 in the Warman Mennonite Special Care Home. A long-time resident of Moose Jaw and area, Mildred was born on September 14, 1919 in the Kelstern district. The first child of Robert (Bert) and Elizabeth Lansdall, Mildred and her brothers and sisters attended the Kelstern School. Mildred went on to attend Normal School in Moose Jaw and University in Saskatoon. She taught at a number of schools in Saskatchewan. During this time she met and married Norman Brattley on August 4, 1951. They lived in Moose Jaw until moving to a farm in the Petrolia District in 1957. While on the farm, Mildred grew a large garden and helped with chores. When Norman retired from the CPR in 1980, Mildred and Norman sold the farm and moved back into Moose Jaw. Mildred was an avid bridge player and member of the Duplicate Bridge Club. She continued to have a large garden and flower beds until she moved out of her home in 2013. Mildred is predeceased by her husband Norman Brattley, parents Robert (Bert) and Elizabeth Lansdall, two brothers Charles Lansdall and Bert Lansdall, son-in-law Ed Harrison, and grandson Caler Budzilka. She is survived by daughters: Donna Harrison – Saskatoon; Doris (Calvin) Stubbs – Edmonton, AB; Darlene McKibben, Swan River, MB; Diane (Dwayne) Budzilka, Vermilion, AB; nine grandchildren: Ronda, Rita (Dan), and Ryan Harrison; Christopher, Shawn Stubbs, and Melanie (Andrew) Knight; Darren McKibben; Darby and Denver Budzilka; five great-grandchildren Matthew Harrison O’Niel, Natalie Harrison, and Caton Harrison; Bowen and Beckett Knight; sisters Dorothy Moxham and Ruth Brattley. Mildred will be sadly missed by her family and all those who knew her. The Funeral Service will be held at W.J. Jones & Son Chapel on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 1:30 pm. Reverend David Moore will officiate. Interment to follow at the Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lung Association of Saskatchewan, 106 – 438 Victoria Avenue East, Regina, SK S4N 0N7 or the Warman Mennonite Special Care Home, PO Box 100, Warman, SK S0K 4S0.
