Passed in: Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Passed on: July 3rd, 2015

It is with great sadness we share the loss of John Dmytro Taszlikowicz in Calgary, AB on July 3, 2015 at the age of 64. He is survived by his wife of 45 yrs, Maureen Taszlikowicz, daughter Jan Tunnell, son-in-law James, granddaughters Hannah & Aries, grandson Ethan, son Jonathan Taszlikowicz, daughter-in-law Jamie, grandson Kingston, and granddaughter Mckenzie. He is predeceased by father Julius and mother Stella Taszlikowicz, and brother Gil Tashlikowich. He leaves behind a large extended family & friends. As with everything John did in life, he fought cancer with determination, remaining dignified to the end. He was born in Prince Albert, Sask. on February 15, 1951. Graduating from Lethbridge College, he embarked on a career in Fish & Wildlife, posted throughout Alberta until 1979 at which time he settled in Hinton and invoked his skills as a tradesman carpenter. It was with great sadness that he left Hinton to start a new adventure in 2006 following his family to northern Alberta and most recently to the Calgary area.
His generosity in life was evident in his many good deeds ranging from assisting less fortunate families, to cooking Christmas dinner for a Senior Centre, hospital and local Friendship Centre, community volunteer with Hinton Development Board, Hinton Trappers Assoc. and Boy Scout Leader (High Prairie).
John had an eccentric sense of humour, loving to laugh and make others laugh, particularly his grandchildren. He loved cooking and entertaining. He leaves with us a strong work ethic and gave his best effort to whatever he undertook in life.
John was an avid outdoor and sports enthusiast, in his early years proving himself an accomplished football player. He remained active until his death and always connected to his love of nature.
A heartfelt thank you to the caring team at the Covenant Care: Dulcina Hospice who provided John with care in his final weeks.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial at the Royal Canadian Legion in Strathmore, Alberta (230 - 2 Ave), on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 11:30 am until 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in John’s memory may donate to: the Alberta Cancer Foundation or similar charity.
The quote that best describes John’s life is: "Good and Bad… my life is my message from which others can learn”. John’s last wishes were that there be no sadness with his departure as he has left his torn body and is walking among mountain trails and watching over all of us from afar.
