Noreen Eleanor Finley
February 16 1919-June 14 2015
Mum passed away in the early morning hours of June 14th in her sleep at the age of 96 years.
Noreen was born in Springhill Nova Scotia to Viva Beatrice Crawford and George William Gilroy where she grew up with one sister Mary, who predeceased her. In 1942 Mum married a local Springhill
lad Herbert Finley after he swept her off her skates and and they began an exciting life of travel with the Canadian Armed Forces eventually settling in Oromocto NB where she remained until the death of her husband in 2004.
At the ripe age of 85 she moved to Vancouver Island and lived with her daughter JoAnne until a few months before her death on June 14 2015.
Noreen was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Hospital Auxiliary and the PC ladies and until a short time before her death maintained an active interest in people and politics.
She leaves her daughter Jo-Anne, several nieces and nephews and many long time friends that she corresponded and spoke with regularly. In addition to her sister and parents she was predeceased by her Uncle Purdy Crawford.
Internment of Noreen’s and her husband Herb’s remains will take place in Springhill. Nova Scotia at a later date.
