GREENE, RILLA DON
1955-2015
Following a courageous battle with cancer Rilla D. Greene of Ingalls Head, Grand Manan Island passed away on Monday, July 6, 2015. She was born the daughter of the late Donald and Wilba (Green) Ross.
Rilla was never afraid of hard days work and she worked in the fishing industry for most of her working life, boning herring, the Connors Bros. sardine factory in Seal Cove, and most recently as a dockside monitor for both Acadia Seafoods and also Seefish. Her quick wit and ability to say what was needed to be said was one of her best qualities, but her special relationship with her granddaughter Ashley and grandson Michael as she watched over them with love and support will be what she is remembered most for.
She is survived by her two sons Adam (Debbie) Brown of Dipper Harbour, and Alan (Linda) Brown of Hartland, six sisters; Rebecca Green, Peggy Seeley (Michael), Bernadine Zwicker (Howard), Claudia Brown (Charlie), Kim Henry (Robert), and Nancy Ross, four brothers; Percy Ross (Suzanne), Reid Ross (Jill), Sherman Ross (Stacey), and Vern Ross (Britt), her step mother Maxine Ross, eight grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends she made on her journey through life.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by one sister Kathleen.
There will be visiting at Ells Funeral Home for friends and neighbors to come and share memories and stories of Rilla’s life with her family on Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 7 to 9 pm.
