Hugh Douglas Gillespie

The death occurred, at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, with his loving family at his side, on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 of Hugh Douglas Gillespie of Toronto, Ontario and Dunblane, P.E.I., aged 63, cherished husband of Joanne (nee Gamble). Loving father to Lauren and Ryan (Kryss Byers) of Toronto. Hugh loved his family, a good argument, and the P.E.I. century old farmhouse he, Jo and the kids painstakingly restored against all local opinion that it should be bulldozed instead. Hugh named the house "Time well-wasted by the sea." A pioneer in the world of networking computer systems, Hugh was also a connoisseur of fine things including wine, power tools, science fiction, native tree stock, alternative energy and music that ran the gamut from Bach to rock & roll. Hugh was born in Toronto, on Nov. 18, 1951, dear son of Lenore (Vine) Gillespie and the late Hadden Gillespie. Sadly missed by his sisters and brother-in-law: Nora Gillespie (Jim Easto) and Mary Ellen Gillespie, all of Toronto; mother-in-law, Mary Gamble, Fortune Cove; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ronnie Gamble (Terry Chang), Long Creek; Alan Gamble, Fortune Cove; Maxine (Grant) Ellis, West Cape; Paul (Pam) Gamble, Fortune Cove and Kelly (Troy) Gorrill, Cascumpec; nephews and nieces: Campbell, Emily and Andrew Easto, Ross (Christina) Gamble, Scott (Michelle) Gamble, Dustin (Mary Anne) Harris, Jenna, Rebecca and Luke Gamble, Connor, Lara and Allison Gorrill; grand nephews and grand nieces: Jacob, Nicole, Max and Maggie.
