It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Hugh James Parks, age 70, of Florence, on Saturday, July 11, 2015, at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney, after a lengthy illness surrounded by his family.
Hughie was born in North Sydney, Dec. 4, 1944, he was the son of the late Ernest and Gladys (Jesso) Parks.
He was a welder and in his earlier years was employed at Halifax Shipyards and later returning to Cape Breton, worked with the Cape Breton Development Corporation until his retirement.
Hughie was a family man, his children and grandchildren meant everything to him. He enjoyed spoiling them. He was loved and he will be missed dearly by all of them.
Hughie is survived by his wife of 45 years Judy (Pye) Parks; his son Kevin (Amy); his daughter Karen (Don); his grandchildren, Melissa (Shean), Sara (Justin), Taylor, Zachary, Zenon; step-grandchildren, Jaclyn and Derek; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Harper, Graham, Kostin, Taylor, Brielle, Greyson and his special little buddy Reese; his brother Bill (Juanita) Parks; his sisters, Sheila Capstick and Susan (Michael) Boutilier, also by a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Joseph and Ernest Parks, his sisters, Patsy Oickle and Debbie Capstick.
No visitation or funeral service by request. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association.
