Arlene Elizabeth MacInnis

Arlene Elizabeth MacInnis

Passed on: July 10th, 2015

It is with great sorrow we the family of Arlene MacInnis announce her passing ‎on Friday, July 10, 2015. For the past year she led a very valiant battle with cancer and not once did she have a negative word, and to all of us it instilled a hope it would be beaten. During this time her husband Glenn was with her every step of the way.
Arlene, 58, was the daughter of the late John Dan and Elizabeth MacMullin.
Born in Sydney, and in her teen years moved to Boisdale.
She is survived by her loving husband Glenn MacInnis and her four sons that she adores and indeed involved in their lives in all aspects — Chris (Elena), Patrick (Shannon), Matthew (Anna) and youngest Brennan, at home; her sister Florence, Edmonton; brothers, Leonard (Phyliss) London, Ont., Jackie (Lee), Boisdale; mother-in-law Marion MacInnis; sister-in-law Darlene and brother-in-law Jimmie; her eight nieces and nephews, Brad, Terrance, Debbie, Laurence, Nicole, Jonathan, Kevin and Junior. Inside the cookie jar could always be found the boys special friends Joey, Johnathan, Adam, Miller and Turk, they all called her "Mom". She is also survived by three grandaunts Johanna MacKinnon, Theresa MacKinnon and Josephine MacNeil.
She was a graduate of Holy Angels, and St. FX to obtain her degree in social work. She spent several years at Braemore as a director, and than became an instructor at Marconi Campus. She had a knack for attracting people and families who needed help, and she would go to no end making sure they were provided for with no fanfare. Her passion was teaching.
We would like to thank all her doctors and Palliative Care for such fine care. A very special thank-you to Noel and Neil Baldwin, who were so kind to her.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, and again on Wednesday, July 15 in St. Andrew’s Church, Boisdale, with funeral mass to be held the following day, Thursday July 16, at 11 a.m. in St. Andrew's Church, Boisdale. Reception to follow in the Boisdale Fire Hall.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Whitney Pier Youth Club.
