Julia Isabel (MacLean) Hardy

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Julia Isabel (MacLean) Hardy, 95, Mira Road, Sydney, with her family by her side at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, on Sunday, July 12, 2015.
Julia was a longtime resident of Mira Road. She was a member of the Mira Road Home and School Association, the Rebekah Lodge and the United Baptist Church, now the United Heritage Church, Sydney and also, the last surviving spouse of a founding member of the Mira Road Volunteer Fire Department.
Julia was a daughter of the late Murdock and Alexis (MacDonald) MacLean and the last surviving member of her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Geraldine MacLean, Mira Road; sons, Wayne (Patricia), Sydney, Donald (Irene) and Kevin (Mary), Hillside, Mira; grandchildren, Darlene (Doug) LaRusic, Brent (Diane) Boyle, Scott (Valerie) MacLean, Glenn (Nicole) MacLean, Mark MacLean, Andrew (Jamie) Hardy, Erin (Brad) McPherson, Jule Ann Hardy, Adam Hardy, Jennifer (Mike) Burns, Renee Hardy (Marlon), Julia Hardy, Kevin Hardy (Jana) and Jordan Hardy (Ashley) and 14 great-grandchildren, Brittany, Jaimee, Jessica (Brendan), Josh, Devon, Corey, Christopher, Carter, Katilyn, Hannah, Aiden, Allie, Sunshine Amelia, and Sarah Grace, who all loved her dearly and will cherish many fond memories.
Julia was predeceased by her husband, Gerald in 1997; daughter, Frances Boyle in 2012; son-in-law, James Boyle in 1994; sisters, Alice, Rachael and Effie; and brothers, Harry, Roderick, Neil and Angus.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the United Heritage Church, 500 Charlotte St., Sydney, on Thursday, July 16 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Rosemary Godin officiating. Burial to follow in Oakfield Cemetery, Hillside, Mira, with reception held at Mira Road Volunteer Fire Hall.
