CORMIER, ANNIE
Annie Cormier, 95, of Moncton Residence, formerly of Dominion Street, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, July 11, 2015. Born in Ste-Anne-de-Kent on April 4, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Henry Grattan and the late Geneviève “Maggie” Maillet.
She will always be missed by her son, Ronald (Thérèse) of Moncton; two grandchildren: Jacques (Amanda) of Embrun, ON, and Janice (Aaron) of Moncton; two great-grandchildren: Nicholas (Bianca) and Chloé of Embrun, ON; a half-sister, Hermine Belliveau of Memramcook.
Annie will always be remembered by her vivacious smile and lifestyle. She lit up a room and many have been touched by her over the years. Always willing to participate in various activities and in numerous associations. She gave her heart and soul to people in need and in all walks of life. She had worked at Eaton’s, Zellers, Atlantic Loto, but people will mostly remember her as the dental assistant for Dr. Georges Cormier. Upon retirement, she spent countless hours volunteering in numerous fields especially at the Dr. G-L. Dumont Hospital UHC where she received a medal from the City of Moncton for 25 years of volunteering. She was a woman of many accomplishments and travelled extensively over the years. She was even a contestant and winner on the TV Show “The Price is Right”, was selected Maritimer of the week on ATV “Live at Five”, and walked the Confederation Bridge at it’s grand opening. She was a member and past director of the Christ-Roi Golden Age Club and also devoted many long and tireless hours for her parish, Christ-Roi.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred Cormier (1987), and infant sister, Frances; a sister-in-law, Louise (2012), her step-father, Frank Richard; step-brothers: Dosithée ‘Dos’, Zoël; half-sisters: Dora, Marguerite, Marianne, Emma, and many cousins.
The family will receive condolences at the Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). Visiting hours Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, and Friday from 10 am until departure (10:45). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Christ-Roi Roman Catholic Church, 300 Dominion Street, Moncton, on Friday, July 17 at 11 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe.
