It is with profound sadness that we the family announce the death of Leo Hector MacKinnon, 83 on July 14, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Sydney, Leo was the son of the late Hector and Margaret (MacNeil) MacKinnon. He was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart parish, Sydney.
Leo graduated from Sydney Academy and was a 1953 graduate of St. FX University. He worked in the metallurgical department of Sydney Steel, retiring after 39 years.
Leo is survived by his brother Steve, Hamilton, Ont.; his sister Peggy Macmillan, Sydney as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Sandy, Donald and John and by sisters, Anna Gillis, Libby Rateau and Isabel Hemsworth.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will take place at a later date.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses in the Emergency and ICU Departments at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their wonderful care and support.
