It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Colleen Lillian (Robinson) Macdonald, 78, Port Morien.
Colleen passed away with her loving family by her side at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Tuesday, July 14, 2015.
Colleen was a lifetime resident of Port Morien where she met her husband and lifelong companion of 64 years, Tom Macdonald. Colleen was employed with the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board at Gowrie Memorial School where she proudly cleaned the facility and cared for all students and staff during her time there; prior to that she was employed with H.H. Hopkins at their Port Morien location. She was also a past member of the Port Morien Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Colleen is survived by her loving husband Tom MacDonald; sons, Donald MacDonald, Lionel (Mary) MacDonald; and daughter Marion (Leonard) Maxwell; sisters, Elaine (the late Rod) Hardy, Mary (the late Jimmy) Timmons, Aveda (the late Reddy) Timmons and Dawn (Don) Perrier; grandchildren, Craig, Tanya, Justin, Holly, Adam, Alisha and Daniel; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Drew, Caiden and Bella; as well as brother-in-law Reg (Sue) MacDonald; sister-in-law Josie Robinson; and many, many friends who all loved her dearly and will cherish many fond memories.
Colleen was the daughter of the late Tom and Viva (MacPhail) Robinson. She was predeceased by her sister Margaret who passed away in infancy, brother, Vinal Robinson, father and mother-in-law Steve and Netta MacDonald, brother-in-law Ted MacDonald. She was also predeceased by her beloved daughter Juanita Thiel some 15 years ago.
Visitation will take place at Curry’s Funeral Home in Glace Bay Thursday, July 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Port Morien on Friday, July 17 at 11a.m. with Rev. Myrna MacMullin officiating. Burial to follow in St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery with reception held at the Port Morien Fire Hall.
