Regis Brun

BRUN, REGIS
1937 - 2015
Regis Brun, 77, of Moncton, NB, passed away on Tuesday, July 14h, 2015, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center, Moncton, NB. Born in Bas Cap-Pelé, NB, he was the son of the late Emery and the late Elise (née: Landry) Brun.
Regis has left a great legacy as a writer and as a historian, but he also uncovered documents that served to shed new light on the Acadian past. He was exceptionally talented in tracing and discovering new documents that he happily shared with his colleagues and the academic community as a whole. While he was working at the Centre d'études acadiennes Anselme-Chiasson, researchers were constantly seeking his advise on account of his broad knowledge in history and in the archives. Regis was always able to communicate his great love and passion for Acadian history. The Acadian community has just lost a very passionate, but especially a zealous person committed to its past and its heritage.
He is survived by two sisters: Laurida Brun (Marcel Lang) of Dieppe and Eva Mazerolle (late Wilfred Digby) of Hanmer, ON; one brother, Romuald (Dinah) Brun of Dieppe, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by four sisters: Lorraine, Léoline, Maria and Aline, as well as five brothers: Alfred, Aimé, Omer, Adrice and Armand.
A tribute and sharing of memories will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Friday, July 24th, 2015 at 2 pm, followed by a reception.
Donations to CHU Dumont Foundation “Cardiac Unit” would be appreciated by the family. www.chartersville.com
