Phillip Howard (Sonny) McDonald

Of Truro, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Colchester East Hants Health Centre after a brief period of failing health. Born in Charlottetown, PEI, he was the son of the late Owen and Mae (Coyle) McDonald. He was married to Joan (Langille) McDonald who passed away, July 21, 2015. He is survived by his brother Arthur (Vi) of Truro. Sonny was a retired employee of C.N.R. He was a storyteller who evoked laughter with tales about his younger days as a bellhop at the Scotia hotel. He was an exemplary skier whose confidence and style on the slopes earned him the nickname "Tiger". In his earlier years, he was also an avid tennis player and skater. A graveside service and interment of Sonny's ashes will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Robie Street Cemetery with Father Francesco Pirisi officiating. A reception from 1-3 pm at the Best Western Glengarry, 150 Willow Street, Truro will follow. Donations in Sonny's memory may be made to the charity of choice.
