Ferne Coughlan

COUGHLAN, FERNE MARGUERITE (McCRAE)
It is with profound sadness that Patricia, Claudia (Irvine) and Margie (Donnie) announce the death of their mother, Ferne Marguerite (McCrae) Coughlan, at home in Nashwaak Bridge. Ferne was born on August 31, 1922 to the late Frank and Ethel (Murray) McCrae and wife of the late Raymond William Coughlan.
Ferne was a direct descendent of a Black Watch Highlander who settled along the Nashwaak River following the Revolutionary War. Ferne was an avid reader and painter. Many of her paintings and drawings were of local scenes and were of interest to many.
We are so sad of her death but happy for her peace. She left us with her wry sense of humor and countless happy memories. In addition to her three girls, she is survived by four grandchildren, Pamela, Harry and Patrick Moxon and Jody McMillan; and by eight great-grandchildren, Charli, Jesse and Jagger Canney, Brandan Merritt, Marlee and Miles Moxon, and Chelsea and Cody McMillan, all of who referred to her as “The Great One”. Ferne is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ferne was predeceased by two sisters, Mildred and Mae; two brothers, Murray and Richard; and a nephew. Ferne was the last surviving member of the McCrae family.
In accordance with Mom's wishes, there will be no visitation or service.
If desired, donations can be made to Autism Connections Fredericton or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to McAdam's Funeral Home, 160 York St., Fredericton and online condolences can be left at www.mcadamsfh.com.
