Edith Margaret “Marg” Bristowe (nee Stuart)
October 31, 1923 – July 24, 2015
Margaret was born in Medicine Hat, AB. She grew up in Brandon, MB where she later met the love of her life, George Bristowe, at a dance at the Manning Depot where George was stationed in the RCAF during the War. Together they had six children. They moved to Prince Albert, SK in 1953. Margaret and George quickly became active members of the community. Both were very active members of the Royal Canadian Legion. George was President for eleven years and Marg served as President of the Ladies Auxiliary. Marg was also very busy with the Connaught Home and School, the UCW, teaching Sunday School, Explorers and CGIT. She also sold Avon products. At the age of 40, Marg obtained her high school diploma to become a Real Estate Agent. Marg was a talented, creative cook. She spent many hours creating cakes, dainties and fancy sandwiches for weddings, and other special events. Marg always had excellent fashion sense and was always dressed beautifully, with earrings on and fingernails always painted. Marg and George always had an open door policy and were gracious hosts to family, friends and neighbourhood kids. Marg and George travelled across Canada attending Legion conventions. They enjoyed many trips to visit family and to look after grandchildren. They enjoyed trips to Arizona as well as Hawaii. Summers were highlighted by great times spent at Waskesiu with all their children and grandchildren. Left to honour her life are her six children: Beverley McBeth, Regina; Betty Olsen, Calgary; Jim (Mitch) Bristowe, Prince Albert, Georgina (Gary) Moffat, Lethbridge; Claire (Richard) Rottare, Vancouver; and Susan (Victor) Boryski, Saskatoon; as well as her 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Margaret was predeceased by her parents and siblings; her husband George and two sons-in-law, Fred McBeth and Marvin Olsen. Marg passed away in the comfort of her home at Oliver Lodge lovingly surrounded by her family. Marg was an amazing, proud woman who will be missed dearly. She has left a legacy that will be forever remembered by her family and friends. The celebration of Margaret’s life will take place on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Tony Thompson officiating. Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery.
