Carmel Weir
WEIR, CARMEL MARY
Carmel M. Weir, 85, of Hillside View Seniors Care Home, and formerly of Belmont St., Moncton, passed away peacefully at her residence with her daughter by her side on Monday, July 27, 2015. Born in Red Bank, she was the daughter of the late Theresa (Power) and Stanley Doran.
Carmel was a graduate of the Hotel Dieu School of Nursing. She later moved to Toronto, where she worked as a Registered Nurse. In the 1980's she moved back to Moncton with her two daughters and continued nursing in Geriatrics, until retiring from the Moncton Hospital. She attended St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church.
She was kind, compassionate and loved unconditionally. She lived independently until a few years ago. She loved to watch sports, especially the Toronto Blue Jays. She loved her cats, enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, spending time with her family and going for drives for ice cream! She went by many names... Carmie, Mum, Mama Weir, Madame and Mimi!
Carmel will be sadly missed by her daughters, Anna-Marie Weir (Kim) of Moncton and Ingrid Cuffe (Peter) of Calgary, AB, two grandchildren, Ella and Matthew of Calgary.
Although her family mourns her passing, we celebrate the life she lived and the extraordinary person she was.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ray Weir and brother, Vincent.
Resting at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995). A Service to celebrate Carmel’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Allison Carroll officiating.
