It is with great sorrow and broken hearts we announce the passing of James Keith Swayne. Jim passed away at the An Cala unit at the C.B. Regional Hospital, Sydney, on July 31, 2015.
James was the son of the late James and Margaret (MacDonald) Swayne. Born in Toronto, Ont., grew up in Gabarus, Cape Breton.
A plumber by trade, Jim took great pride in his work. He was a member of Local 682 for 48 years. Jim retired from AB Mechanical in 2007.
Jim is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruth (MacPherson); their three children, Jim (Ann Margaret), Brian (Lori) and Shelly Lynn (Ken) MacDonald. Also by his pride and joy – his three grandchildren, Haley Lynn and Ruth Ann Swayne and Evan James MacDonald; sister, Carolyn and her two children, Darren and Rae; his extended family, John (Janice), Scott (Laurentia) and Marilyn (Douglas) and their families.
A visitation will take place today (Tuesday, Aug. 4th) from 7-9 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the chapel with Rev. Lydia MacKinnon officiating. A private committal will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, Gabarus.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
