He was the son of Mark and Ruby Anderson, husband of Rita, father of Edward (Nancy) of Belleville ON and Kathleen (Phil Scott) Provenzano of Saskatoon, SK, grandfather of Kenora (Nigel Linnett) Sorgenfrie of Ottawa, ON, Stacey (Fred Lindsay) Anderson of Oshawa, ON, Tara (Craig Lukianchuk) Black of Brantford, ON and Christa (Scott) McMillan of Edmonton, AB, great-grandfather of Jonah Black of Brantford, ON and Gordon McMillan of Edmonton, AB.

Remembered by his loving wife of 69 years, Rita, and his sisters Ruth (Bob) Schwabe of Riverside, CA, USA and Sarah Day of Irvine, CA, USA.
Stephen spent his youth growing up in Plaster Rock, NB in the Tobique River Valley of NB. Like many of his contemporaries, he joined the Air Force and “went to war” during WWII. After the war, he married Rita and went to business school in Moncton, NB and soon returned to Plaster Rock to work for what was then Fraser Companies Ltd. He was well known by many of the community as he worked as the paymaster for the company for many years. In the late 1950’s, when television was a new technology, he took a correspondence course with DeVry Technical Institute of Chicago, IL and became a part time TV repair man for the area. After more than 40 years with “Frasers” as the company was known, he retired and built himself a new home in Oxbow, NB. Many projects from his woodworking shop found their way into the homes of friends and relatives in the area. From there he and Rita eventually returned to town and had a pre-fabricated home prepared for them on Girouard Street.
In 2005, at the urging of their children, he and Rita moved to Belleville, ON to be closer to their children and lived in an apartment for some years until deteriorating health made it necessary to move to the E.J. McQuigge Lodge nursing home. There they shared a room until his death. Our sincere thanks for the care and compassion shown by the staff at E.J. McQuigge Lodge during his time in residence.
Cremation is in the care of Burke Funeral Home, (613 968-6968) 150 Church St., Belleville, ON. Interment will be in the Plaster Rock Community Cemetery in Plaster Rock, NB. A memorial service will be held in Plaster Rock at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Hastings-Prince Edward, 470 Dundas Street East, Bay View Mall, Unit 63, Belleville, ON K8N 1G1 or the charity of your choice.
