KELLY, DORIS MAUD
Peacefully at St. Lawrence Lodge, Brockville ON, on August 8, 2015 with family at her side; Doris Kelly, at the age of 91 years. Beloved wife of the late Richard "Pete" Kelly and dear mother of Barbara Dingwall (Doug) and Pastor Bill Kelly (Diane). Loving grandmother of three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Doris was born in London, England and met Richard when he was with the RCAF stationed in England. Doris came to Canada as a war bride in 1946 and lived in North Sydney, NS where she was active in Brownies and Girl Guides. Her mother was a professional seamstress in England and Doris inherited her skills and artistry and had her own business as well as teaching sewing. Doris and Richard moved to St. John's Nfld. for Richard's work, where Doris worked as an interviewer for Statistics Canada; a job she continued in when they moved to Riverview NB, while also working as secretary of her church. After retirement, Doris and Richard spent winters in Florida and then after Richard's death, Doris moved to Brockville to be closer to her children.
Family and friends are invited to a Service in Celebration of her life at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12th at the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel, 4 James Street East, Brockville, and to a reception in the Irvine Reception Centre immediately following. Interment will take place in the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood, Ottawa, at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Parkinson's Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged.
