Passed on: August 10th, 2015

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Genevieve Mercer 'Jenny', announce her passing. Jenny passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, Aug. 10, 2015 at Extendicare in Leduc, Alta.
Jenny was born in Sydney on Sept. 13, 1931 to Joe and Bridget Hiscock. The angles took our beautiful, strong and brave mother and grandmother home where she will be reunited with her parents, her husband Jim, son Jamie, brothers Wilfred, Lloyd and Winston Hiscock and her sister Josie Duffney.
Jenny was deeply loved and will be forever missed by her family. Jenny is survived by her daughters, Yvonne (Daniel) and Donna (Jimmy); her sons, David (Karen) and Roger, her 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and her sister, Dolores Hardy.
Jenny was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Mom, we know that you know how much we love you, and how grateful we are for everything you have been for our family. There was never a time that you weren’t there when we needed you. Thank you for the wisdom you shared with us, and the lifetime of memories we are so blessed to have made with you. You were the Matriarch of this crazy Mercer clan, and you will be forever remembered as just that! You will always be in our hearts, and when we are together as a family, we will share our memories, and there will be laughter…lots of laughter!
Our family would like to thank the staff at Extendicare Leduc, Alta. for taking such wonderful care of Jenny over this last couple of years.
Funeral services will be held for Jenny at St. Michaels Parish in Leduc.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be so he wrapped his arms around you and whispered “come to me”. With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away, and although we loved you dearly we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating when he gave you rest, God’s garden must be beautiful for he only takes the best.
