Brian Northrup

Northrup, Brian Thomas
MAJOR (RET’D) CAF
1946-2015
It is with profound sadness that the family announce the passing of Brian Thomas Northrup at the May Court Hospice, Ottawa, on August 13, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by compassion and family love.
Beloved husband and best friend of Marilyn Kehoe-Northrup. Loving and proud father of son Christopher (Brett) of Edmonton and daughter Dustin of Victoria. Cherished Papa to Haley and Bryce. Devoted brother of Bruce (Kim) of Sussex, NB where he grew up. Special uncle to Bradley (Laura) of Halifax and Jessica of Sussex. Beloved son of the late Clifford and Leona (Stableford). He will be sadly missed by numerous cousins and extended family and friends across the country and the globe (including Australia).
Brian was a career military officer having served as both a naval and army helicopter pilot during his 40 + year tenure of military service. He loved the military way of life with its close comradeship; yet he equally loved the aviation venue and its many assorted challenges. To combine both was his dream fulfilled. Brian left a legacy that includes the many, many lives that he touched with kindness and compassion, sense of humor, his respect and passion for life, for family and for friends and for people. He enjoyed mentoring both within and outside the military and always considered that he was living the dream.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes 403 Richmond Road, 613-722-6559 A Celebration of Life in Brian’s memory will be held on Thursday August 20th at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Church, 347 Richmond Rd, followed by a reception in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the May Court Hospice or a charity of your choice.
The family is very thankful for the outpouring of support from his many friends and colleagues, and from the Class of ‘64 SHS. We would like to thank all of the medical personnel who cared for him at the hospitals during his illness with such great kindness and professionalism and the May Court Hospice staff and volunteers for their tremendous compassion and loving care during his final weeks.
