RUTH MARGARET LUISE HENNING (nee Kassebaum)
May 12, 1923 – August 17, 2015
Ruth passed away peacefully on Monday at Shorncliffe Manor in her 93rd year. She will be greatly missed by her family. Predeceased by daughter Monica. Beloved grandmother of Thomas Cantley, (Rita), Yolanda Baillie, (Joe), Brant Dupuis and Stephen Dupuis, great-grandmother of Jason, Chantel, Tyler, Madison and Carter and great-great-grandmother of Rainan and Avery.
Born in Braunschweig, Germany Ruth survived the war and immigrated to Canada in the 1950’s to begin a new life. She was always independent and an inspiration for her grandchildren, especially Thomas. She was a huge force in their childhoods, taking them on trips to Pioneer Village, Niagara Falls, the CNE, Midland, Bracebridge, the Calgary Stampede among other sites as well as to Germany to meet relatives. In Toronto she was the secretary and the only woman employed at Compagne Parento for over 30 years until she retired to relocate to Edmonton, to be near her family.
Ruth lived independently for years in her beloved Tigler Manor apartment before moving to Gibsons to be near her grandson Tom. After a fall and a stroke Ruth resided at Shorncliffe Manor. Her family greatly appreciates the loving care and attention provided to Ruth by all the staff at the residence.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
A woman of extreme strength, courage and love
Who was beautiful, soft and now peaceful and free as a dove
