It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Donald MacIntyre, 71, on Friday, Aug. 21, 2015, at the An Cala Unit, Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney after a short battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Donald and Irene (Burns) MacIntyre.
At the time of his retirement he was employed with the Commisionaires. Don was an avid painter throughout his life and spent many days enjoying Wentworth Park and his grandchildren.
Donald is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn (Brown); children, Paula (Jamie), Riverview, N.B., Scott, Halifax, John, Montreal, Josephine, Dartmouth, Donna (Dave), Coxheath; his special girl, Valerie (Paul); his precious grandchildren, Claude, Samantha, Evan, Marlee, Ricky, Michael, Alex, David, Hannah, Andrew and Matthew. He is also survived by his sisters, Joan MacIntyre, Halifax, Irene MacLeod, Kentville, Clare (Neil) MacNeil, Sydney, Mary Gamble, Vancouver, Beverley, France; brother, Gus (Chris), Kentville, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Dougie, Bobby and Charlie. Cremation has take place. Visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, from 4-8 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. A memorial service will take place 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cape Breton Palliative Care Unit.
