ARSENAULT, ELEANOR
1920 - 2015
Eleanor Arsenault, 95, wife of the late Michael Arsenault, of Villa du Repos, and formerly of Poirier Drive, Moncton, passed away at the Villa on Tuesday August 25, 2015 following a lengthy illness. Born on May 13, 1920 in Charlottetown, PEI, she was the daughter of the late Albert Handrahan and Marie Gallant.
Eleanor was retired from The Moncton Hospital as a nurse’s aid. Mom’s favourite pastimes were knitting, baking and spending time with her family. She was also an avid Montreal Canadians fan.
She is survived by her 10 children: Eva Landry (Gérard). Aldean Sherwood (Carl), Lester, Shirley Martin (Jerome), Walter, David (Murielle), Reg, Jeanne, Claudia, and Muriel; 15 grandchildren: Jeff, Ken, Patti, Lynne, Dianne, Marc, Denis, Gisèle, Mike, Gilles, Julie, Monica, Adam, Holly and Laura; 12 great-grandchildren: Brandon, Miranda, Taylor, Danielle, Michelle, Mariève, Yanik, Wyatt, Ethan, Chloe, Olivia and Londyn; three sisters-in-law: Esther Arsenault, Lynette Handrahan and Marie Leclerc; many relatives and friends from PEI, NS, and Maine. She was the last survivor of her immediate family.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Betty (2013); six sisters: Hilda, Ada, Theresa, Zita, Auldine and Marjorie; eight brothers: Arthur Leclerc, Don Handrahan, Chester, Ozzie, Walter, Clifford, Boswald and Pat Doucet
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Saturday from 10 am until time of departure (10:45). The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, 340 Dominion Street, Moncton on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 11 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe.
