It is with great sadness that the family announce the sudden passing of Howard Jeddore. Howard passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by family and friends.
Born in Sydney on March 15, 1947, he was the son of the late Jessie (Sylliboy) and Victor Jeddore. Howard was a member of the Wagmatcook Queen of the World Parish.
He was a journeyman carpenter by trade and worked for the Eskasoni Band for many years and, later in life, for the Wagmatcook Band until his retirement. He served two terms on the Eskasoni Band Council. Howard also had fond memories of working on the set of two movies as a linguist (Squanto and The Scarlet Letter). Howard loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending as much time as he could with them. He also loved relaxing by the Baddeck waterfront and spending time with his friends there. He went on multiple “Tims Runs” daily. He especially loved his special visits with his sister Diana. He was also a really big boxing fan.
Howard is survived by his loving wife, Veronica (Peck); his children, Jessie (Rick), Fern (Mike), Howie (Audrey) and their mom, Sandra Gloade, all of Eskasoni; stepchildren, Brittany (Jeff), Chief Norman (Sylvia), Preston (Andra), all of Wagmatcook; Dennis Gloade of Truro; his sisters, Diana Denny, Murdena Marshall (Albert), Cathy, Eskasoni; Patsy Martin (Barry), Millbrook; 19 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, godchildren, Victor Denny, George Terrence Sylliboy, Tristan Isadore, Sunshine Paul-Martin, Jessica Lewis, William Jeddore; mother-in-law, Victoria (Malcolm) Chapman; numerous nieces and nephews and two special nephews, Aloysius and Victor (Paqtism), both of Eskasoni.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Grand Chief Noel Jeddore (Diana Morris) and Grand Chief Gabriel Sylliboy (Harriet Marshall); brothers, George and Joseph; sisters, Victoria and Dorothy Mae; nephews, Andrew and Terrance Jeddore, Tommy Marshall, Max Martin and nieces, Mary Arlene Jeddore and Denise Marshall; stepson, Herman Bernard; father-in-law, Edwin Campbell and brother-in-law, Aloysius Denny.
Visitation will take place at the Wagmatcook Elder’s Centre on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2015 starting at 3 p.m. with arrangements entrusted to T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, Aug. 31, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Queen of the World Church, Wagmatcook with Fr. Paul Abbass officiating with burial in the parish cemetery.
The family wishes to extend deep appreciation to his friend and nurse Elaine Allison and also to Dr. Chow, Dr. Virick, Dr. Genge, Dr. MacMullen, nurses & staff of the Victoria Memorial Hospital, nurses at emergency and palliative care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and Rev. Paul Abbass and Rev. Paul McGillvray.
