Shirley was born on February 17, 1945 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She married Don Jensen in 1966. Shirley and Don moved frequently around the province until Don’s passing in 1979. Shirley found herself raising 2 young boys into adulthood, and in many ways maybe a little longer. In 2001 Shirley met Ernst and the two became close, marrying in 2002. This union brought Shirley into Ernst’s welcoming family, whose relationships she cherished dearly. Shirley worked many years for various agencies of the provincial and federal government. Upon retirement Shirley spent 12 years volunteering her time with her condominium board as well as her church. A funeral service was held at 2:00PM on Thursday September 3 at St. Olaf’s Lutheran Church at 665 Central Avenue N in Swift Current, with a reception to follow. Rev Dr Greg Kiel officiated the service. Arlie Neufeld was the organist and Henry Thiessen was the vocalist. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service (STARS) Foundation, or the St Olaf’s Memorial Fund at 665 Central Avenue N, Swift Current. The family would like to thank the staff and crews of STARS Air Ambulance and the staff of the Cypress Regional Hospital and Regina General Hospital for their efforts and care, and especially Regina Hospital Chaplain Dennis Fingas for his many visits to Shirley during her final days.
