It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eileen M. Ames of Fredericton, NB on August 29, 2015 at Extendicare Nursing Home, Timmins, ON, surrounded by her loving family on the eve of her 91st birthday. Born on August 30, 1924 in Keswick, NB, she was a daughter of the late George and Diva (Knights) Estey and wife of the late Frank Bertram Ames.
Eileen was a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Devon as well as a member of the ACW. She retired from the Department of Justice after 45 years as the Registrar of Deeds. She was an avid clogger, shuffleboard player and loved to travel.
Survived by her daughter JoAnn Jenkins (Ralph) of Timmins, ON; three grandchildren John (Ploi) and Susan of Red Deer, AB, Robert of Timmins, ON; three great-granddaughters Alyssa, Abigail and Amelia; numerous nieces and nephews.
The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was predeceased by sisters Elizabeth, Megan, Marjorie, Josephine, Jean; brothers Sydney, John, Eric, George; and a daughter Virginia Ames.
The family will receive friends and family on Saturday September 5, 2015 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM at Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road at which time a celebration of Eileen’s life will be held with Canon Tom Smith officiating. Interment to follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, IWK or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
