We, the family, are saddened to announce the sudden passing of our dearly beloved sister, Joan Madden, 68, of Scotchtown on Sept. 2, 2015.
Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Isabel (Gouthro) Madden of Scotchtown.
Joan attended school in Scotchtown and later was employed at the Nova Scotia Tourist Bureau.
Surviving are sisters, Verna (Howard) MacLean, Barrie, Ont., Yvonne Stauffer, Erie, PA, Ellie Lethbridge, Dartmouth, N.S., Lila Guyomard, Sydney, N.S.; brothers, Elmer and Michael (Gloria), both of New Waterford; brother-in-law, William Matheson, London, Ont.; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by sisters, Patricia 'Baba' and Gatha.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation and service will be held in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith St., New Waterford on Wednesday, Sept. 9 from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:30 p.m., with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard's Parish Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Spina Bifida Association.
