Marlene (Cecchetto) MacPherson

Passed in: Glace Bay New Waterford
Passed on: September 4th, 2015

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Marlene (Cecchetto) MacPherson, announce that she passed away peacefully, at the age of 78 years, on Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay.
She was a devout wife, mother, stepmother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a longtime Lioness with the New Waterford Lion’s Club and a member of the New Waterford Legion, Branch 15, and Red Hats Society. She always looked forward to spending time at our cottage in Lake Ainslie, enjoyed music and loved to dance. Marlene loved to play bingo and cards, especially tarabish and crib. She also loved a good joke and could light up a room with her laugh and smile.
She was predeceased by her mother Pearl McNeil, sister Evelyn MacPherson and husband Giovanni 'Sonny' Cecchetto.
Marlene is survived by her husband Kevin; sons, Richard Cecchetto, Wade (Joanne) Cecchetto, Jon (Allyson) Cecchetto; daughters, Vonda (Chris) Bijl, Jo-Anne (Garry) Hubert; stepsons, Kevin (Jill), Max (Cathy); stepdaughters, Nancy, Natalie (Dan) Schnare; sister Kay (Cameron) Routledge; brother Cameron (Audrey) McNeil; many nieces, nephews and grandchildren she loved dearly.
Her children would like to give a heartfelt thank you to their stepfather Kevin, for the love and compassion he showed their mother every day, especially as her health deteriorated in the last few years.
Cremation has taken place with visitation to be held on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015 from 12-2 p.m. and a funeral service starting at 2 p.m. all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith St., New Waterford, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Marlene’s life at a luncheon reception following the burial at the New Waterford Legion.
We would like to thank the staff and nurses of the Seaview Manor in Glace Bay for their kindness, support and exemplary care they provided to Marlene.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marlene’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia.
Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
