Kathleen attended school at Sandy River School by Theodore. She went to work at the early age of 15 helping out at a farming residence. In 1938 she moved to Moose Jaw to be with 3 of her sisters and mother. Kathleen met the love of her life in May of 1942 and was united in marriage to Morris Phillips on December 27th, 1942. They were married for 60 years. Together they had three daughters: Carolyn (George) McLean from Ottawa, ON, Susan (Gerald) Declare from Swift Current, SK and Christine (late Don) Olynyk from Yorkton, SK. Kathleen also had 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Morris passed away in 2003 and Kathleen continued to live alone in her own home until August of 2014. They then moved to Birch Hills, SK where he ran a Gulf Station and Restaurant and Kathleen was the cook in the restaurant. In 1986 they moved back to Moose Jaw, where they first met. Kathleen loved to garden. She always planted a big garden and loved canning and pickling. Together they often went camping with family and friends. She was also an avid knitter, crocheted, loved to sew and made quilts, all to give to family. Kathleen loved to cook and bake and the house always smelled of something delightful and tasty. She also loved a good game of scrabble and loved to play cards with her family. She had a great love for reading books and was always reading. Kathleen was a very generous person and always had something to give to each of her family members.
