BROCK, KATHERINE "KAY" (nee HENDERSON)
Katherine Brock peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on September 9, 2015 at the age of 75 years after a thirty year battle with cancer. Dearly loved wife of John.
Loving mother of Aaron (Michelle), Jason, and Allison (Chris Goodal). Cherished grandma of Boden and Ava Brock. Dear sister of Frank Henderson (Donna). Beloved aunt of Angela Phelps, Stephen (Rhonda) Henderson, and Jeffery (Sherry) Henderson. She will be sadly missed by her extended family and friends.
Predeceased by her parents; Frank and Alice (nee Briggs) Henderson.
Kay was a graduate of Fredericton Teachers College and taught for seven years before becoming a stay-at-home mother and community volunteer. She volunteered with the AMR until the time she was first diagnosed with cancer in 1985. From that time on she was a volunteer and peer supporter for the Canadian Cancer Society. Kay was a member of the Associates of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie, as well as being a member of the CWL for over 35 years.
Special thanks to the many, many health care professionals over the years, Dr Dellandrea, Dr Carter, Dr Beddage and Dr Paul who was on a first name basis for so many years. For all the recent care and compassion from, all those in the Emergency dept, EVERYONE on staff at D3, CCAC (Cameron), Paramed (Kasha, Vicki, Sandra, Rachel), Carepartners (so many great people), Rexall Pharma Plus and Pharmsave! A special thanks to Father Trevor, Deacon Al Charette and Monsigneur Norm Clement.
Also thanks to her wonderful friends for support of prayers, food and treats helping making her time at home as special as she hoped for.
Family will be receiving friends at the McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name of Jesus Church on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully appreciated by her family.
