Edwin Robert Vandertuin - 52, of Spirit River, Alberta, died September 1, 2015, at home. Born in Brandon, Manitoba, he was a son of the late Robert and Alice (VanMeekeren) Vandertuin. He is survived by his son, Trevor, Wolfville; sisters, Jo-Anne (Jack) Verboom, Quispamsis, New Brunswick; Sandra (Kenneth) Kingsbury, Canning; brothers, John (Sherry), Coldbrook; Randy (Jackie), Orangeville, Ontario; and several nieces and nephews. He was employed as a truck driver with an oilfields services company in Alberta. Before moving to Alberta he was manager of several poultry barns in the Annapolis Valley for ACA Cooperative. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed the outdoors. Funeral service was held Saturday, September 12, at 3:00 p.m. at Kings Presbyterian Church, New Minas, Rev. Dr. Tim Archibald officiating. A receptionl followed at the church. Cremation has taken place. A family burial followed at Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to your local branch of the SPCA, Open Arms Resource Centre in Kentville, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
