of Colliers, Age 54 years, Occupation - Millwright. Little did we know when we woke on Tuesday morning, the sadness and sorrow the day would bring to part with one we loved so much. Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family and the warmth of those who cared, on Tuesday, September 8th at the Health Science Centre, after a prolonged and courageous struggle, Aiden Aloysius Whelan - Age 54 years. Predeceased by his grandson Noah Whelan (2013), his parents: John A. (2001) and Molly (Mary) Whelan (1987), his sisters: Mary B. Whelan (Nurse) (2009) and Georgina Williams (1997), his niece Alexandra Williams (1994), and his brother Gordon (1950). Leaving to celebrate his life and mourn his loss, devoted wife of 32 years, Audrey (nee Hawco), daughter Mandy and son AJ; as well as sisters Geri (Joe) Devereaux, Iris (Patrick) Dalton, Glenda (John) Cabot; the Whelan and Hawco families; nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and friends Stefan, Blair, Alfie, Norman, Darryl Yetman, Darryl Melvin, and his fellow brothers and sisters of Carpenters and Millwrights College- Local 1009; as well as a large circle of extended family and friends, and his loyal and faithful canine friends Sammie and Puppy, and feline friend Boo, who was always by his side. As per Aiden's wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation at Flaherty's Memorial Funeral Home, 70 Conception Bay Highway, Conception Harbour, on Friday, September 11th from 10 am - 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Immaculate Conception Church in Colliers on Saturday, September 12th, 2015, at 10:30 am, with Inurnment to follow at the family plot, Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Colliers. Flowers gratefully declined, donations in Aiden's memory may be made to a Scholarship Trust that has been set-up in his memory at the Carpenters and Millwrights College.
