Catherine Anastasia Bruce, 65, of Dartmouth, died peacefully in hospital on Saturday, September 12 after a brief illness, with her loving family by her side.
Born in Montague, P.E.I., she was the daughter of the late James and Catherine (Corcoran) Cain.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Alex, daughter Margaret Anne (Nelson), son Robert (Dawn); also survived by brothers John (Elizabeth), Robert, Jim (Judy), Joseph (Linda); and sisters Mary (Joe) McGuire, Margie (Ron Pringle) and Joan (Dale) Murchison.
She was predeceased by infant sister, Eileen and brother Paul.
She will be missed by her dear grandchildren Madaya, Juliana, Alexander, Anastasia, Nathaniel, and Andrew.
A graduate of the Halifax Infirmary School of Nursing, Catherine worked as a registered nurse for 32 years at the IWK Health Centre, Halifax, retiring in 2011.
From 1973 to 1976 she served with CUSO as a pediatric nurse at Nkhoma Hospital, Malawi.
Catherine enjoyed socializing with her many friends, travelling, playing golf, singing in her church choir, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Visitation at Mattatall Funeral Home, Portland Street, Tuesday, September 15, 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
Funeral to be held at Saint John XXIII Church, 35 Colby Drive, Cole Harbour, on Wednesday, September 16 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow.
Interment will be in P.E.I. at a later date. Family flowers only.
