It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Clarence Earl 'Doc' Dockrill at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Sept. 14, 2015
Born in Halifax, he was son of the late Robert and Alice Dockrill.
A former Korean War veteran, Clarence began his military career in 1950 in Halifax. During his 25 year service in the forces he also served in peace keeping missions in Egypt and Cyprus.
Upon retirement from the military, Clarence moved his family to Dominion where he enjoyed 10 years working in the Canadian Tire store in Glace Bay. He and Charmaine enjoyed many years of involvement with the Dominion Pensioners Club as well.
Doc as he was called by all those who knew him, is survived by his only daughter, Debbie, with whom he resided; sons, Robert (Deborah), Glace Bay, Paul (Michelle), Sydney, Douglas, Digby; brothers, Ralph, Donald and sister, Grace (Grant) of Halifax.
The sunshine of his life and partners in crime, his grandchildren, who he taught to never take life too seriously, Derrick at home, Laura of New Waterford, Kayla (Shawn) of Glace Bay, Kenzie of Sydney, and the apple of his eye his great-granddaughter, Ella of New Waterford. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, friends and family in St. Andrew, Nfld.
Doc was predeceased by his loving wife, Charmaine as well as his sisters, Dorothy (Jenkins), Myrtle (Watson) and brothers, Robert and Edwin.
The family would like to thank Dr. J. MacKillop and all the wonderful healthcare professionals involved in dad's care, especially those on 4B and 4D at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
As per our dad's wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and guidance of Curry's Glace Bay Funeral Home, 775 Main St. A private interment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Last Post Fund.
