PETERS, EVELYN JANE
(1922 - 2015)
Mrs. Evelyn (Boyton) Peters of Castalia, Grand Manan Island passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital on Monday, September 14, 2015 at the age of 93. She was born at Castalia, the only daughter of the late Ernest and Rosabelle (Ingersoll) Boyton at their home.
Evelyn grew up on their family farm, where she worked very hard. In the winter months all the neighborhood kids knew of Evelyn’s hill for sliding and all would gather for some after school fun. She was a clerk at the Ross, Middleton and Griffin stores for many years. Also she was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 44. Evelyn was a very kind lady; she had many friends that enjoyed her company.
She is survived by her daughter Donna (Edward) Knight; four grandchildren; Steven Parson (Katrina Gaunce), Keven (Jamie) Urquhart, Georgie Urquhart (Jerrica Foster), and Cristopher Urquhart (Ashley Morse); nine great-grandchildren; also her late husband John’s family Patricia Craft (Al Gagnon), Bernice (Patrick) Mercer, Lucille (Morel) Ouellette, Carol-Ann (Tim) Shipstone, Donald Pitre; their five children and five grandchildren.
Evelyn is predeceased by her husband Weldon Tatton, her son Ernest Tatton, one great-grandson Jason Parson and her second husband John Peters.
Visiting took place at Ells Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral will take place from the Church of Ascension on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 1:00pm, with Rev. John Matheson officiating. The interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery. Following the service there will be a reception at Covert Hall and all who attend are invited to stay for a time of fellowship.
Donations may be made to the Grand Manan Hospital Foundation, The Grand Manan Nursing Home Foundation, Grand Manan Animal Rescue League, or the charity of the donors’ choice in memory of Evelyn.
