It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Verla Lois Dobson, at the age of 91 years. Verla passed away peacefully and comfortably while surrounded by her loving family at Gables Lodge, on Saturday, September 12, 2015.
Born in Collingwood, NS, she was a daughter of the late Orland and Bell (Ford) Langille.
Verla married the love of her life William on June 10, 1941, and they enjoyed a wonderful life together raising their family. Early in her life she volunteered at the Blind Club. She was a certified Nursing Assistant at All Saints Hospital, mostly working in Pediatrics. Over the years, she volunteered as a driver, making sure people made it to their medical appointments, driving as far as Halifax. She was a life member of the Pythian Sisters. When Verla came to visit, if your work wasn't done, it got done before she left. Later in life, she loved sharing a cup of tea and a bit of gossip with family and friends.
She will be sadly missed by her son, Doug (Eleanor), Springhill, daughter, Carolyn "Hubba" (Robert) Phillips, Bible Hill, NS; 5 grandchildren, Stephen, Angela, Ann, Krista and Cindy; 7 great grandchildren, Kent, Stephen, Lucas, Riley, Justin, Kingston and Portia; foster grandson Adrian Henderson; brother Jerome "Bun" (Ruby) Langille; sister in law Jewell Austin, Amherst, several nieces and nephews
She was predeceased by her husband William, brothers Vance and Roache; sisters Betty Johnson, Beulah Langille and Una Langille.
Arrangements have been entrusted to A H Brown Funeral Service, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, NS (902-597-2361). In keeping with Verla's wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at the Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 11 am, Major Max Snow officiating.
