It is with broken hearts, we announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend,
Joyce (Jones) Wilson (nee Munroe), age 83 of Dominion. Mom passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay and a long time resident of Station Street, Dominion, Joyce was the daughter of the late Alex and Rosie (MacKay) Munroe, Dominion.
Mom was an avid Leafs and Blue Jays fan. She enjoyed playing darts, bingo, baking, making crafts and listening to her favourite country music with a good cup of tea in her favourite cup. She also loved to see her family and friends stop by for a cup of tea and her special treats.
Mom was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Dominion. She played an active role in their many activities; especially the tea and sales.
Mom is survived by her children, Bobby (Liz), Lawrence (Susan), Nadine (Sheldon), Jocelyn (Tim), Dominion, Joe (Tanya), Ontario, Clarie (Brandie), Dominion and her sister, Sylvia (Buddy) Nicholson, Port Morien. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husbands, Laurie Wilson and Clarence Jones; sisters, Murdena (Lloyd) Jeanette (Ellesworth); three brothers, Duncan (Barbara) and two in infancy.
Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Myrna MacMullin is Saturday, 11 a.m. in the Church of the Good Shepherd, Dominion. A reception will follow in the church hall. Cremation will take place after the funeral service with interment in the parish cemetery at a later date.
We express our many thanks to Dr. McCarville, Dr. Giorno and staff of 4C, CBRH, Sydney. Also heartfelt thanks to the staff in the An Cala Unit for their compassionate care during this difficult time.
Family flowers only. Donations in Mom’s memory can be made to the Cape Breton Hospice Palliative Care Unit.
