Anne Harrietha Lavery

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Anne Harrietha Lavery, age 66, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Anne was born Feb. 21, 1949, and was the daughter of Hilda and the late Alphonse Harrietha.
Anne is survived by her loving husband Joseph Lavery; her son Shawn Reashore (Anita), Point Aconi; Shawn’s father Wayne Reashore (Cathy), Sydney Mines; stepdaughter Lisa Lavery (Alex), Sydney; stepsons, Jim Lavery (Julia), Ontario and Michael Lavery (Kat), Ontario. Anne is also survived by sisters, Helen Beaton (Kevin), Zita Harrietha and brothers, Alphonse Harrietha, Dennis Harrietha (Judy), all of Mill Creek.
Anne dearly loved her nine grandchildren, Jamie Lynn, Michael, Ethan, Owen, Raymond, Talia, Tiago, Aurelia Anne and Antonia Sharon. Anne is survived by her many nieces and nephews each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law from her Lavery family will always remember Anne’s goodness and giving spirit. Anne’s enormous compassion for others, her unshakeable faith and her genuine way of touching everyone first and foremost with kindness and understanding endeared her to all her family and friends alike.
Anne was an avid walker, enjoyed swimming and the outdoors and loved to exercise as was evident in her fitness and always impeccable appearance.
Anne was a faithful member of St Joseph’s parish, Bras d’Or, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and also a member of St Vincent de Paul Society.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church in Bras d’Or, with Rev. Peter McLeod officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
