Saunderson, Dorothy May, age 98 years old of Vanguard SK passed away September 11, 2015 at Cypress Regional Hospital. The Memorial Service was held at 2:00 P.M. September 19, 2015 from the Vanguard School, Vanguard SK, with Laura Balas officiating. The pianist was Joan Williamson. The Interment Service was held at the Vanguard Cemetery and the pallbearers were James Burton, David Burton, Jeff Hornung, Mike O'Neill, Mark Heebner and Martin Dykema. Dorothy is survived by her nieces, nephews and their families, and she was predeceased by her husband Albert Saunderson in 2000. She attended school at Burton School, Vanguard School, Turkey Track and was home schooled. She married Albert Saunderson on August 14, 1944. Dorothy was a teacher for 28 years at Vanguard School, Burton School and Aneroid School. Dorothy was greatly involved in her community. She was the Mayor of the Village of Vanguard from 1984-2009 and she was a founding member of the Vanguard and District Music Festival. This was their 50th year and Dorothy played in each and every one. Music was a vital part of Dorothy's life! The Senior's Association was very dear to her. She enjoyed crosswords, cards and a good visit. Dorothy was an amazing lady with a most wonderful life, "A life well lived." Donations to the Vanguard Rec.
