Muriel Trask

It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on September 19th, at the Cumberland Regional Hospital, Amherst.
Muriel will be lovingly remembered by sons James (Shirley) and David (Irene). Grandchildren; Kim, Jim, Kevin, David, Angela and Alisa. Great-grand children, Andrew, Jennifer, Leslie, Nicholas, Chloe, Nick, Ella and Taylor and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Jim, brothers Harold and Ronald Jowett and her sister Dorothy Glenwright.
Muriel was born in River Hebert, Cumberland County on December 22, 1919. She was the daughter of Aleta Maude Jowett (Wood) and Alfred Rainer Jowett. Muriel was someone who unselfishly gave of her time and never thought of herself. She was a loving and compassionate caregiver, caring for her parents and her mother-in- law, during their illnesses. She often spoke of her happy childhood in River Hebert and although she enjoyed numerous postings across Canada with her husband Jim and sons David and Jimmy during Jim's Air Force career, and especially enjoyed a four year posting to Metz France; her plan was to eventually return home to River Hebert. She and Jim had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed many family hunting and fishing trips over the years. She celebrated and encouraged her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was so proud of their accomplishments. Family always came first. If we were okay, she was okay. Her grandchildren have wonderful memories of delicious home cooking, walks on the beach, trips to the sugar woods and their first taste of spruce gum.
Muriel was strong in her faith and upon returning to River Hebert, she served in many capacities. She was an active member of the Trinity United Church, River Hebert. She was a member of United Church Women, and Adopt - A - Shut- In - Group, Life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies' Auxiliary, past Noble Grand of Mayflower Rebecca Lodge # 21 IOOF, former member of the United Church choir, Board of Stewarts and Sunday School Superintendent.
She leaves a legacy of warm and loving memories that will live forever in our hearts. Heartfelt and lasting gratitude to Daniel and the staff at White Birches Retirement residence, Amherst, who provided a loving, caring environment for Muriel over the past few years. The family will be forever grateful. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. A private gathering for family and friends will take place at a later date.
Donations in Muriel's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
