Donald Rawlins

Rawlins, Donald James
Sackville, N.B.- It is with deep sadness that the family of Donald James Rawlins announces his passing at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Friday, September 25, 2015. Donald was 87 years of age.
Born on October 23, 1927 in Cupar, Saskatchewan, he was the son of the late Kathleen (Barber) and Robert Randolph Rawlins.
Donald attended Qu’Appelle High School in Cupar, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Jean. Graduating from the University of Saskatchewan, Donald worked for General Motors for 20 years and this was the beginning of many moves and transfers across Canada. He was associated with the car business for the remainder of his career. Donald wore many hats, such as President of the Nanaimo Rotary Club, chairman of the Nanaimo Harbour Commission and the Canadian Ports and Harbours Association. His greatest pleasure was his family with many happy hours spent enjoying good wine, good food, great friends and a mean game of cribbage.
Donald will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Jean (Priddell); his children, Donna (Danny), Debra, Lou (Paul) and Rob (Cathy); his sister, Joy (Arnold); his grandchildren, Jai (Ron), Zach (Holly), Chenoa (Michael), Melanie (Luke), Akaylah (Eliseo) and Anuhea; his great-grandchildren, Ciara and Parker; his step-brother, Ken; his brothers-in-law, Barry (Shirley), Bob (Jean) and Bill (Rose); his sister-in-law, Lorraine and by his many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). In keeping with Donald’s wishes, his body was donated for medical research at Dalhousie University in Halifax, N.S. Family and friends are invited to a time of remembrance at Campbell’s Funeral Home on Sunday, September 27, 2015 from 2 to 4 pm.
If so desired, donations in memory of Donald may be made to the Sackville Memorial Hospital, Rotary Club of Canada, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of one’s choice.
