HANSEN, ELMER C.
Elmer Christopher Hansen, 92, of Moncton, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Born April 27, 1923 in North Bay, ON, he was the son of the late Olaf and Ellen (Neilson) Hansen.
Elmer was the founder of Hansen Signs and entrepreneur in his own right. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Moncton Branch No. 6 and a veteran of W.W.II having served with the RCAF.
He was the pillar of the Hansen family. He will be remembered as a passionate, strong and loving man who made his family proud.
He is survived by beloved wife of 69 years, Martha née DeGrâce; 10 children: Norman (Paula), Eldon (Louise), Dennis (Darlene), Jackie, Gary (Irene), Brian (Dany), Michael, Hazel Bourque (Charlie), Janice Cook (Mike), and Jennifer McFadden (Scott); 33 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
Elmer was the last survivor of his immediate family of 12. A daughter, Debbie Karl (Don) predeceased him.
The family will receive condolences at the Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). Visiting hours Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm only. The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, 340 Dominion Street, Moncton, on Wednesday, September 30 at 11:30 am. Interment will be in Shippagan. The Veterans will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral centre on Tuesday at 3:50 pm.
