We the family regret to announce the passing of Elizabeth MacNeil, 88, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital, on Sept. 26, 2015.
Born in Benacadie, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Mary (MacKinnon) MacNeil.
Catherine dedicated her life to taking care of her parents; though she led a quiet life she loved the company of others and getting visits from family and friends. All those memories she always held very dear.
Elizabeth is survived by family members Adrian Merriam and Jean Merriam, Joe and Mildred MacKinnon, Billy and Jessie MacKinnon, Kay and Bob Marler and Monica Boudreau. She is also survived by numerous cousins, relatives and friends.
Besides her parents, Elizabeth was also predeceased by a brother.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. at St. Barra’s Parish, Christmas Island on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, with funeral mass to follow at 11 a.m. with Fr. Paul Abbass officiating. Burial in parish cemetery immediately following the mass. There will be a luncheon following the burial.
The family would like to thank the paramedics, nursing staff and doctors of both the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, and the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital, especially Dr. Ajuwon for their professional care and compassion toward Elizabeth.
Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
